The clients' request to avoid a specific Middle Eastern theme in this 30 storey 5-star hotel for the InterContinental Hotel Group was met with the introduction of contemporary high-spec materials such as whisky coloured Afromosia, high gloss lacquer and Makassar Ebony for feature joinery items. Handmade carpets and the specially designed furniture complete the modern guestrooms.
The privacy screen in the bathroom is a contemporary take on historic Arabic patterns, providing the guests with a reminder of their location.
The project also included an additional 250 private residences and a restaurant.
